FLAT ROCK INTRODUCES NEW DESIGNS AT HIGH POINT MARKET FALL 2008
| Over two hundred years ago
Merriwether Lewis and William Clark broke camp near Vincennes, Indiana and began an expedition of epic proportion...they set out to chart a route through the Western Territories to the Pacific Ocean. Their journey is the inspiration for our Clark Fork Sportsman's Table. Mighty rivers like the Wabash, Ohio, Missouri and Columbia were their highway but tributaries like Clark Fork and Lewis Creek were their larder. Teaming with bass, trout and salmon and home to wild game and water fowl, these small streams provided the food source to sustain their two year journey. The skill of fishing with fly was more important than sport for these daring explorers - it was a necessity of life. The tradition carries on - named for William Clark, the Clark Fork River in Western Montana is a world famous destination for fly fisherman casting for trout. Lewis Creek and Flat Rock River, tributaries to the Wabash in southern Indiana, are known throughout the Midwest for their smallmouth bass. Flat Rock has created the Clark Fork Sportsman's Table with renewable wood resources found on the banks and in the hills surrounding all of the beautiful streams. Wormy maple and Spaulding Sycamore from the Wabash River valley of Indiana frame our sportsman's table. We married these valley hardwoods to hickory wythe posts and trim to aromatic cedar drawers, from the Kentucky and Missouri highlands. Our unique cork top, a tribute to the fly rod itself completes our dedication to the American sportsman. We invite you to let your imagination roam over the history of the Western exploration and find your favorite stream as you enjoy the charm of our Clark Fork Sportsman's Table. |
